24

So, I'm 24 years old now and I have 2 things to say about it. I feel that at the age of 24 I have accomplished and done many things and also, I feel older and older everyday.

First part ... I have graduated Summa Cum Laude from SMSU in May of 07' with a degree in elementary ed (granted I don't have that teaching job, but I still have the degree :) ) I was married at the age of 22 in July 07' to the love of my life. August of 07' still 22 moved 3 hours away from our families and it was a good decision. December of 07' found out I was pregnant and had my first child at the age of 23! At the age of 24 and during the year of 2009, there are even more exciting things happening that I cannot delve into at the moment. Guess you better keep your eyes out for that blog to be coming in the future!! Gotcha all wondering now, don't I? That's good :)

Second part...why I feel old. There is this younger girl I work with and I just laugh at the stories she has to share, she's in her young 20's. I am not stereotyping by any means, it just makes me sit back and think, wow I have a whole new perspective on life now than I ever did before. I am attributing part of it to being a mother. Your life is never the same after you have a child, but I would not trade it for anything. It is the best job I could ever be given. Also, being the oldest of 4, my younger siblings are aging me. My brother Troy, recently got engaged! He seems too young to be getting married, but then I look back and realize I got engaged at the same age as him. His fiance is amazing and I am so excited for her to be a part of our family! The date is set for April 30, 2011 (I know I don't want to wait that long, but it's their decision). My brother, Trent, is graduating this year and going to college next fall at SMSU for el ed just like his big sister. It is such an honor to be able to offer the knowledge I have to him. Then there is Tanya who is becoming more and more of a woman everyday! She is growing up so fast! She is in 9th grade and I love her so much. She is more of a friend to me now than ever before! Don't know what I would do without her! Love you all!

I guess that's all I have for now. Be watching for "that" blog!

p.s. Good luck to my best friend Raquel on her boards!

Pray for Grandma

God has yet presented our family with another hump to get over. For those of you that don't know, Great Grammie (my dad's side) passed away the beginning of March and then the middle of March my Grandpa (mom's side) passed away. Great Grammies death was simply from old age (almost 103) and Grandpa's was from cancer (previous blog).

We recently found out that my Grandma (dad's side) has breat cancer. She will have surgery on April 14th to remove the cancer. A few years back Grandma had breast cancer, but they were able to go in with a needle and suck it out. This time it is larger and so they need to actually make an incision and "spoon" it out.

We are just praying everything goes okay and they are able to remove all of the cancer and hope that it won't come back. Grandma is a strong woman and I know God is watching over our family and would not give us anything He didn't think we could handle.

Please be thinking about Grandma!

Good-Bye Grandpa Jack!

Today we said goodbye to another grandparent. Grandpa Jack, my mother's dad went home to be with the Lord. The last funeral I had for a grandparent, other than Great Grammies just a few weeks ago, was Papa's back in 2001, so it was tough. Today brought back so many emotions and feelings I haven't had in awhile. It was wonderful to be reunited with family that I haven't seen in far too long, but sad that it had to be under those circumstances. I know Grandpa isn't fighting anymore and he is back with the love of his life and looking down on us smiling right now, it doesn't make things any easier. Today we enjoyed fellowship with friends and family and it was comforting to be with those close to my heart. As we told stories of Grandpa, we laughed and cried. Troy shared his story of when Grandpa made him drive his truck when he was just 15 and boy was that an adventure (Grandpa is very particular with his vehicles so this was quite the event). I remember Grandpa playing cards with Adam the first time they met and I also remember Grandpa calling me after my accident and asking me if he needed to come down here and teach me how to drive. Ohhh Grandpa! We love you and we will miss you!

Tessa's 25 Things

1. I married my first kiss and I do not know what I would do without him.

2. I hate winter, yet I still live in Minnesota. Yes I am one of those people...I complain about winter all winter long, yet I continue to live here. There must be something that keeps me around.

3. I love my daughter more than words could ever express. Now that I have her, I could not imagine my life any other way. Being a mother is one of the greatest things there is.

4. I am Lutheran, my husband is Catholic and we struggle with this. We know that we need to make a commitment together and grow together in one faith not only for us, but for our daughter and future children. Sometimes I question my own faith, not that I do not believe there is a God, but that being Lutheran is right for me. I was raised that way as was Adam being Catholic so it's really hard for either of us to change or look at anything else. I know I am Christian and I believe that God gave his only begotten son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins and because of that I will have eternal life in Heaven. And I know that God has blessed me in abundance. I pray about all of this.

5. I love Target, yet I shop at Wal-Mart.

6. I can't live without Diet Mountain Dew. I used to be a Diet Coke fan, but since college have turned to Diet Mountain Dew. It was hard to go without it during pregnancy. There have been many trips to the store or gas station just for DMD.

7. My parents and siblings mean the absolute world to me. I would not be the person I am today without each and every one of them. I see myself becoming more and more like my mother everyday...so much that people have started calling me "Grace Jr." My dad has always been that "hard-ass", but he is one of the softest men I know. My brother Troy is the comedian of the family and aside from the trouble he's gotten into in his time, he always makes me smile and would do anything for his family. He has a girlfriend that I just love as well :) Trent is just like me and because of it, we connect in away that nobody else in our family can understand ... it's almost sickening to some. My sister is one of my best friends. Even though we are 9 years apart, she is still one of the most amazing women I know. I trust her with anything and everything!

8. I have another best friend. Her name is Raquel. She is attending Med School now and lives miles away, but I am soooo proud of her. I have the utmost respect for her. I truly believe she is my soul sister, because no matter how long we go without talking, everytime we can pick up right where we left off. Love you Raqui!

9. I graduated 5th in my class in high school and graduated summa cum laude in college, yet I still can't get that teaching job. It will come eventually.

10. I want two kids, Adam wants three. I have issues with odd numbers. I think I've won this battle and we are only having 2. If we have anymore than that I would love to adopt 2 more!

11. I was born in Worthington, MN and all my other siblings were born in Alexandria, MN.

12. I broke my wrist in 3rd grade because I was dancing to country music that was on tv and I kicked my leg up and the dog ran under me and I landed on my wrist. My friend Kacie had to help me write my assignments and carry my tray at lunch time haha.

13. I was one of about 30 some thousand other people that were married 07-07-07!

14. I have had glasses since I was 2 years old, the same year I had eye muscle surgery on my left eye. With that, I have a lazy eye (my left one).

15. I regret not continuing with my flute playing. I played flute in high school and wish I would have practiced more and continued to play in college and after.

16. I was cut from the volleyball team my senior year in high school after being one of the top servers the year before and also receiving the spirit award. That's okay though cuz softball is the best sport around anyways.

17. Although I listen to pretty much any kind of music, country is my all time favorite and I really think I'm a cowgirl at heart.

18. Since moving to Rochester/Byron I have met some of the greatest people I know. Love you all! You know who you are!

19. New Year's Eve 2007 I tipped our 2006 Ford Fusion on its side and scared the shit out of myself. We still haven't replaced that car.

20. I dream of buidling a house with my husband someday.

21. I often wonder if I chose the wrong field. I love kids, but getting a job as a teacher is harder than I anticipated it to be. I've been looking at going back to school on more than one occasion.

22. Being a photographer is a dream I have had for awhile, and I hope that someday it will come true. I know I have lots of learning to do.

23. I accepted a teaching job in Casa Grande, AZ and was going to be moving there, but their enrollment was not as high as projected, so they did not need me. It was a blessing in disguise.

24. I spend way too much time on the computer, just ask my husband.

25. I am spoiled by my husband. He does so much for me and our family that most men would not do. He is the the #1 father and husband! Thanks babe! I love you!

Bronchilitis is Not fun for my Morgan

For those of you that haven't heard, Morgan spent a couple days at the hospital. She was admitted Sunday morning and was released Tuesday late afternoon.... here's the story:

Starting last Wed. Morgan was getting sick, just common cold signs, but as the weekend progressed she kept getting worse and was starting to have like 60 heart respirations a minute (they like it to be 40 or less), and she was refusing any type of liquid, so we called the ER and they told us to bring her in and they admitted her early Sunday Morning. She was diagnosed with bronchilitis. She was on an off oxygen while she was there because she couldn't keep her oxygen saturations above 90. She was eventually able to go on just blow-by oxygen, and was doing good without it while playing, but still dropped too low during sleeping so they kept us Monday night too. On Tuesday she finally took 2 naps without needing the oxygen so they let us go home. By accident she had blood work done. (that's another story), but with that they found that she was on the low side for her hemoglobin, so with her next appointment for well-baby we have to talk to them about a multi-vitamin since she is already getting formula with iron in it. So, anyways since she was able to take those naps without the oxygen they let us go home, so we got home Tuesday sometime after 4. She slept a bit then we gave her a bath and just took it easy.

She had a follow-up appointment today, which went alright I guess. She still isn't showing much signs of improvement since leaving the hospital. The pediatrician said it could take up to another 2 weeks before she is better. If her eating decreases, she struggles to breathe, or develops of a consistent fever of 100.4 or higher, we are supposed to bring her back in. I just hope she is back to her normal self soon! She has been such a trooper through all of this!

Please be thinking about her!

Morgan rolls over ...

On the evening of January 11th, our little girl rolled over for her first time. She rolled over from her tummy to her back, still working on the back to tummy deal. The night before we had been kind of working on it with her and then the next night (the 11th) we were in her room with her and we were just playing and we didn't think she was going to do it when all of sudden she was on her back. I was so happy I think I startled her a bit haha. She did it a couple more times and I was even able to catch it on video with my cell phone :) She hasn't done it too much since then, but it's okay, she will do it when she wants to, plus she is probably afraid of what her mom will do again! I just can't believe how fast she is growing!

I suppose y'all would like an update!

How horrible of me! It has been like almost a month since I last updated...so much has happened, I do not know that I can capture it all in one blog nor do I have the time to do so. I actually should probably be doing something else right now, but Adam isn't home yet and Morgan is sleeping so I am going to enjoy this moment to myself ...drinking my diet dew, listening to Beyonce and writing a blog!

First I'll quick update about Adam and I. We are doing good. I am now officially the lead teacher in the young baby room at New Horizon Academy and I am so excited to finally have my own room! We are still kind of transitioning to opening our other room, but so far so good. I'm in the process of giving the room its own character because it previously had a whole lot of nothing. I will be attending New Horizon's professional development conference in February in Eden Prairie, which I am very excited about! Not much to update about Adam...he is still at TCS and loves it! Him and I are both just really busy trying to get the house together and organized! If you think it's hard to move and organize in general, throw a baby into the mix and working long hours! It's slowly getting done, but I just wish it could be done like yesterday...oh well! It needs to be done soon because my parents are coming in a week and a half and I'm supposed to be having a baby shower at my house for my friend in February! yikes!

Morgan is doing great! At the end of this month she will be 5 months old and I just cannot believe it. She is growing so much everyday, it's just unreal how much she amazes me with something new everyday! She is the best and I thank God for her daily! She gave us the best Christmas present ever .... she laughed for the first time! It was so wonderful!

I suppose that leads to updating about Christmas! Christmas Eve Adam and I both worked, but were done early. We went to church in town then came home and opened presents as a family. We didn't have anything too big, but it was nice to be able to celebrate Christmas on our own.

Adam had to work the day after Christmas, so we stayed home on Christmas Day as well. My aunt and uncle who live in Rochester, brought a turkey over and we ate and socialized with them for the afternoon, it was really nice!

On Friday, when Adam got off work, we headed to Osakis. We got there and did not have plans on opening gifts until Saturday, but Morgan was wide awake and everyone was anxious so we opened gifts. It was much different this year as Troy has a girlfriend now and we have Morgan. Normally my dad does a fun game with the gifts and it's very organize in how we open them, but it was kind of like "who wants to open next? okay go." It was fun though. Adam and I and Morgan all got one thing because of what it was. My dad built her her own little pedal street rod. Plain and simple: It's fricken awesome! My dad truly is a wonderful man. Also with my dad's heart attack in November, I think we all cherished the time even more. On that note, my dad is doing really well and is exercising and eating right and has quit smoking (AMEN!) I am so proud of him for what he is doing!

Saturday we basically just hung out and enjoyed the time together. We played some games and Grandma came over and we took pictures, but other than that, it was pretty low key. I was able, however, to go over to my best friends house...Savannah and Raquel. Raqui hadn't seen Morgan yet, so it was wonderful for her to be able to see her. I am hoping this spring that Adam, Morgan and I can all make the trip to Kansas City to see Raquel! Hopefully then we get a chance to sit down and actually talk, what do you think Raquel? Love you hun!

Sunday we went to Adam's parents for Christmas and did that celebration there. It was a good time to see everyone and see Melissa (Adam's brother's ex-wife) ... yes we celebrate Christmas with her and not his brother....long story! Anyways Melissa has a man now who has two kids, so it was nice to have more kids there, so his kids and Melissa's girls and Morgan all had exchanged names so that was fun. Melissa's man seems like a very nice guy and must not be too bad if he has full custody of his kids!

Sunday evening we headed back to Byron after having some minor car problems. Adam had to work Monday, but I didn't which was good. We got home pretty late and unwinded. Got Morgan to bed and headed to bed ourselves.

Overall it was a wonderful first Christmas with our baby Morgan!

FYI: I tried uploading some pics and it wouldn't work...perhaps I will try later!
